Education for a New Age

Education has become a prerequisite for meaningful careers. The technological advances that enhance our lives daily have also profoundly impacted nearly every employment field, making higher education - once a luxury - an essential step in a successful career path.

With this in mind, DeVry University provides career-oriented, technology-based education to high school graduates and working adults. The 21 DeVry campuses in the United States and Canada compose one of the largest private higher-education systems in North America. DeVry University offers curricula in accounting, business, computers, electronics, information technology, technical management and telecommunications management. General education, technology and business are integrated into each program.

DeVry's historical roots lie in the technical education movement of the early 1900s. In 1931, Dr. Herman DeVry established DeForest Training School in Chicago to prepare students for technical work in electronics, motion pictures, radio and, later, television. The name was changed to DeVry Technical Institute in 1953, and it became the flagship of the current system of campuses. In 1968, the name was once again changed, to DeVry Institute of Technology.

Currently, DeVry campuses are located in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Alberta and Ontario, Canada, serving some 47,000 students.

The DeVry system has expanded in curriculum and degree offerings as well. In 1957, the DeVry Institutes achieved associate-degree-granting status in electronics engineering technology and 12 years later were authorized to grant bachelor's degrees in the same discipline. Computer Science for Business (later renamed Computer Information Systems) was introduced in 1979 as DeVry's second bachelor's degree program.

In response to growing demand for professionals with business and technology expertise, DeVry introduced its bachelor's degree programs in accounting, business and telecommunications management in the 1980s. In 1994, DeVry launched its Technical Management curriculum, followed by the introduction of the Information Technology and Computer Engineering Technology programs in 1998 and 1999, respectively.

In 1987, DeVry merged with Keller Graduate School of Management (KGSM), which offers master's degree programs in Business Administration, Business Administration/Educational Management, Accounting and Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Information Systems Management, Project Management, Public Administration and Telecommunications Management. KGSM operates more than 40 U.S. sites including the Online Education Center.

Additionally, DeVry expanded operations in 1996 to include Becker CPA Review. Since then, Becker has joined forces with Conviser Duffy CPA Review. Today, Becker Conviser Professional Review offers courses preparing students for the state-administered certified public accountant, certified management accountant and chartered financial analyst exams at more than 200 U.S. and international locations.

The merging of DeVry, KGSM and Becker Conviser CPA Review brings together resources and expertise in management, business and technology in full- and part-time programs from the associate- through the master's degree level.

Each member of the DeVry organization remains committed to providing high-quality curricula and student services, and we look forward to helping you attain your personal and professional goals.
